Dr Sally Nixon graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Melbourne in 2000 and is a Resident in behavioural medicine in both the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists and the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists.

As well as owning her own rural-based business consulting in veterinary behavioural medicine, Sally also works for Dr Jacqui Ley at the Essendon Fields clinic of the Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre.

Sally is a co-tutor for the Centre for Veterinary Education Veterinary Behavioural Medicine distance education course, she teaches the Melbourne Polytechnic's Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing students in small animal behaviour, and she is a consultant for the United States based organisation, Veterinary Information Network (VIN).

Sally has been a committee member of the Australian Veterinary Behaviour Interest Group (AVBIG) since 2014 and currently represents AVBIG on the Policy Advisory Council of the Australian Veterinary Association. Sally is the current president of the veterinary behaviour chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS).
